Pristine Nepal Treks & Expedition presents Kali Gandaki Gorge trekking for your life time experience. This trek can be done from two different areas. One from Besisahar with Annapurna Circuit trek & other is from Pokhara via Poon Hill Ghorepani. It is located between Mt. Annapurna I & Mt. Dhaulagiri which both are over 8,000 meters above the sea level. The Kali Gandaki River from Tibet erosion always its sands & gravel makes it deeper & deeper each & every time.
It is the deepest gorge in the world which is 5,571m lower than Mt. Annapurna I. This area is called Thak Khola where Thakali people have been living since long time. Thakali people are very popular for Trans Himalaya trade. It can be trekked from Besisahar on the other part of Annapurna region by crossing the highest & widest pass in the world named Thorang La Pass with its 5,416m altitude via popular, beautiful, & amazing place Manang.
If you have short time, you may start from Pokhara. Take a scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, trek to picturesque Muktinath 3,700m on the part of Upper Mustang. Jomsom, Muktinath, Kagbeni are Tibetian influenced society. You may feel you are in Tibet. Then follow Kali Gandaki gorge all the time till Tatopani where you may enjoy natural hot spring. And climb up to Poon Hill popular sun rising view point just one day before Pokhara.
Or you may start from Nayapul after a short driving from Pokhara. Climbing 3,500 steeps before Poon Hill, Ghorepani. Most trekkers go to Poon Hill for sun rising with almighty Annapurna & Dhaulagiri views. Then trek down to Kali Gandaki gorge via Tatopani (Hot Spring) all the way to Muktinath & back to Jomsom for fly out to Pokhara.

Day 01 / Arrival & transfer to hotel
You are received by Pristine Nepal staff on arrival in Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel. It is the only short drive from the airport to Thamel which one is very popular touristic place in Kathmandu. Our guide or tour leader will brief about this trip. You may meet other trekkers who they are trekking together in your group.
Day 02 / Drive to Pokhara by tourist bus
You will have breakfast at your hotel in early morning. Guide & porters will be there half an hour before departure to Pokhara. Normally, tourist bus always leaves 7:00 am in the morning from Kathmandu. The tourist bus drives to you Pokhara via beautiful mountain areas where so many small settlements located, a lot of farmland, and mostly followed the riverside. Trisuli River is very famous for rafting, probably you can see many rafting boats in this river. Pokhara city is the most beautiful city in Nepal known as the touristic city as well. Enjoy Pokhara & overnight stay before trekking.
Day 03 / Fly to Jomsom & trek to Kagbeni
Normally, Jomsom flight is always in the morning time. Usually, a strong wind blows after 11 am so most of the flights to Jomsom are done only in the morning. A short & scenic flight brings to you in picturesque Jomsom with beautiful mountain views of Annapurna Himalaya & Dhaulagiri Himalaya ranges. You can have breakfast in Jomsom with a wonderful view of Mt Nilgiri. After breakfast, your day starts with a gentle walk to Kagbeni via Eklebhatti. You have now a beautiful Kali Gandaki Valley trail which one follows the Kali Gandaki River. This area is very popular for fossil; you may get them very easily until today.
Kagbeni is a beautiful Buddhist village totally influenced by Tibetan culture & custom but Hindu people also go there for their memorial ritual process. There is a monastery in Kagbeni which is the oldest one in this area. Now, they have renovated in the new design. You may walk around in this village & see many painting, carving, & architecture. The Upper Mustang trail goes from here; it is the main gate to enter to the Upper Mustang.
Day 04 / Trek to Muktinath
After a wonderful stay in Kagbeni, your morning starts with a vertical steep climb for an hour. There is the road too but trekking trail is better for trekkers. An hour steep climb up brings to you on the flat area of the mountain with gorgeous views of Mt. Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche peak, & other much more. A gradual path till Jharkot makes your walk easy & smooth. Then again, you should climb up to the mountain till Holy Muktinath. Muktinath is a famous Hindu pilgrimage place with its one hundred eight water tabs over 3,700m above the sea level. Especially, Hindu pilgrimage travels to this holy place to pray for the liberation of their past family member & their own good health & wealth. There is flame underneath ground with spring water.
Muktinath is a popular place for trekkers too. Most of the trekkers stay overnight here after their big pass named Thorang La Pass 5,416m of Annapurna Circuit trek. You can have a jeep, minibus or motorbike riding from Muktinath to back to Pokhara.
Day 05 / Trek to Marpha
After an interesting night, morning starts with an easy downhill walk to Eklebhatti. From here, you should follow to Kali Gandaki River Valley again & all the way to Tatopani. You more follow the Valley you more get into the gorge area. But till Marpha today, it is beautiful valley view, lots of apple garden, strong wind blowing into the Kali Gandaki Valley. Enjoying very popular Thakali food here in Marpha with maybe Marpha/Apple brandy or sider.
Day 06 / Drive to Tatopani by local bus
After spending a night in Marpha, it is recommended to have local bus or jeep drive back to Tatopani. There is already a bumpy road in this trekking area. Most of the trekking trails are already destroyed so it is better not to walk with the dusty road.
Tatopani is very popular for natural hot spring. There is very hot spring water. They have built a swimming pool to take a hot bath for trekkers. After walking on the mountain, to have a natural hot bath here is so relaxing.
Day 07 / Trek to Ghorepani
The morning starts with a short walk on the road after an interesting night in Tatopani. Crossing a bridge brings to you for a steep climb up to Sikha village. It is almost all uphill all the way to Ghorepani from Tatopani. But many small villages with beautiful views make your trek enjoyable & interesting. Ghorepani is most popular & busy touristic place located on the top of the mountain over 2,800m above the sea level. Trekkers love to hike Poon Hill from this place in early in the morning.
Day 08 / Trek to Nayapul & drive to Pokhara
Hike to Poon Hill (3,210m) in the early morning. Approximately, it takes an hour to climb to Poon Hill from Ghorepani. Poon Hill is a gorgeous place to see sun rising view on the top of Mt. Dhaulagiri & Mt Annapurna Himalaya ranges. Back to hotel for breakfast after Poon Hill & trek down to Nayapul. It will be a big day too. From Nayapul, local bus or jeep will bring you Pokhara in the evening for one more overnight stay.
Day 09 / Drive to Kathmandu
After your Kali Gandaki Gorge trek, tourist bus brings to you Kathmandu via beautiful countryside. It is only 200km long Pokhara-Kathmandu but the road is narrow, busy, & lots of turning so it takes 6/7 hours. We will have farewell dinner at a reputable restaurant in Kathmandu in the evening.
Day 10 / Departure from Kathmandu
Finally, we will drop you at the international airport in Kathmandu after providing our best services for your Kali Gandaki Gorge trek.
